THANK YOU!Ces derniers mois auront été marqués par les célébrations émouvantes des débarquements de la Seconde guerre mondiale sur les plages françaises, préludes à la libération et à la pacification de l’Europe.L’Amérique, on ne le répètera jamais assez, était au premier rang. Gratitude éternelle, donc, à tous ces vétérans, souvent centenaires, qui représentent, par leur seule présence parmi nous, les dizaines de milliers de compagnons qui ont sacrifié leur vie pour libérer une terre qu’ils ne connaissaient pas. Mais au-delà de la France, c’est pour un idéal qu’ils se sont battus : la Liberté.En traversant une dernière fois l’Atlantique, ils nous ont rappelé que nous étions tous les enfants du « D.Day ». Déjà le président Roosevelt en était convaincu : « Il n’existe pas deux nations plus unies par les liens de l’histoire et de l’amitié mutuelle que le peuple de France et celui des États-Unis d’Amérique ». C’est toujours dans cet esprit que nos équipes, nos membres et nos partenaires continuent à s’engager, au quotidien, pour faire vivre cette amitié indéfectible entre nos deux pays et entre nos deux peuples.À chacune, à chacun, et surtout à tous les héros du 6 juin 1944… Merci !The last few months have been marked by the moving celebrations for the World War II landings on French beaches, the prelude to the liberation and pacification of Europe.America, it cannot be said often enough, was at the forefront. Eternal gratitude, then, to all the veterans, many now over a hundred years old, who, by their very presence among us, represent the tens of thousands of comrades who sacrificed their lives to liberate a land they did not know.
